Some would say that it is the most important meal of the year and others would argue it’s no big deal. We are a “this is a mega big deal” kind of household and ALOT of effort goes into our Christmas food. We start with a big family meal all together on Christmas Eve which is usually a cuisine from around the world such as Mexican, Chinese, Indian etc which I know is a little random but is quite a relief when you are about to spend the next week or so eating roast dinner left overs. Then of course is the Christmas day breakfast and then comes the biggest meal of the year the Christmas day lunch/dinner. I mean it is huge. We do too much. We never eat it all and on the day barely even touch the veg and this usually ends up in the yummy bubble and squeak the next day. I think we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to try and make sure everything is perfect, well I know my mum, sister and I do and we always want to make sure everyone has everything they want and enjoys each and every bite. Well, I have teamed up this year with Hello Fresh who have put together The Ultimate Christmas Dinner Guide to help you put out a brilliant dinner with as little panic as possible…
In case you have never heard of them, Hello Fresh is a company that delivers meal boxes with all the ingredients you will need and a recipe card included to feed your family. They basically make good-eating very easy! They did infact send me a box of delicious goodies with three recipes inside – all of which I had never tried and were absolutely delicious. Infact, if you pop over to my Instagram you can check out my opening of the Hello Fresh box I got in my saved Instagram stories! I always worry with companies like this that because I am vegetarian everything will either be lasagna or made of butternut squash but the recipes were all really nice surprises.Â
Anyway, so Hello Fresh have created a “Cheat Sheet” if you will for The Ultimate Christmas Dinner Gift Guide which gives you everything you need to know about preparing for your Christmas feast, including all-important timings and fail-safe recipes, some of which can be made in advance. In our house hold we have made the same Christmas dinner for as long as I can remember, gradually adding and adapting dishes but basically keeping our core dishes that we love. However, despite the years of practice we have had and the fact that we never change our menu (we love this Nut Roast and Mushroom Gravy) I still found the Cheat Sheet incredibly useful!
Roast Potatoes are one of my favourite things about the Christmas dinner and I have to say mine are a bit hit and miss and I found the Cheat Sheet really helpful when creating the Perfect Roast Potatoes and even had a practice run last weekend and they were a big hit! There are also tips for your meat as well as tips for all sorts of veggies and a super top secret gravy recipe which is sure to have everyone begging for more!
So, whether you are a seasoned Christmas Dinner Pro like my mum, a novice/intermediate like me or a total and utter beginner who is slightly freaking out at the prospect, you should definitely check out and download The Ultimate Christmas Dinner Guide from Hello Fresh to help you create that perfect meal of the year this Christmas!
