Unicorn Poop – Great for Kids (and big kids too!)

plate full of white chocolate unicorn poop
No I am not going mad…well only unicorn mad so that’s okay. If you follow the blog you will know that recently it was Alyssa’s first birthday and she had a unicorn themed birthday party. Of course my mum went into Pinterest overdrive and was looking at all sorts of craft and foody things that we could do to follow in with the theme. One recipe she came across was for unicorn breath which unfortunately involved gelatin meaning that being vegetarians we couldn’t eat it. I was also on the look out for sweet things that my lovely friend Laura would be able to eat as she has a serious egg allergy so when it comes to cakes she really needs to be careful. So, we decided to adapt the unicorn breath and make our very own sweet treat…. Unicorn Poop!

So what is it? Well… what isn’t it?!? It is chocolatey sweety goodness that is great for parties or a naughty indulgence for us adults with a glass of wine too! So, I expect you’re all dying to know how to make unicorn poop aren’t you?! Okay, well grab yourself a rainbow and here we go….

pieces of white chocolateIngredients (makes a plateful!!):

300g of White chocolate, broken into chunks

3-5 different coloured food colourings

Edible Glitter

Smarties

Rainbow Drops

Hundreds and Thousands

(any sweets you like just make sure they are in small pieces no bigger than a smartie)

lots of different coloured smartiesMethod:

1 – Line a lipped baking tray with clingfilm and set aside. From now on you must move quickly as you need to get a lot done before the chocolate hardens!

2 – In a bowl melt the white chocolate until it is completely liquid and then pour into the cling film lined tray and get ready to move!

3 – Take your food colourings and drop little dots of each colour all over the chocolate and using a cocktail stick drag the colour drops round to create swirls and the pattern of your choice.

4 – Randomly  dot all your sweets throughout the chocolate and finish off by chucking on your hundreds and thousands and then take the tray and pop it in the fridge for 2-3 hours until set.

5 – Turn out of the tray and peel off the clingfilm. Break into random sized shards and pieces, pop on a plate and sprinkle with your edible glitter…. yum yum yum!

There you go… easy peasy unicorn poop that I have to say was a huge hit! What weirdly named foods are a hit in your house?!
