Making A House A Home

*Ad – Gifted. All opinions are my own
I have mentioned many times that I have never really had the chance to furnish and decorate a home I have lived in because it has always been rented or with housemates or with family. I have always been able to decorate or at least furnish bedrooms but it’s not the same as having a whole home. Recently my circumstances changed and I am now living with my partner in my very own (rented) grown up house and whilst I occasionally want to go into denial that I have to be a grown up it has been great fun adding little touches that we both like that help to make a house a house.

Now, I do like to have a clean and tidy home (just don’t open my cupboards) so the first thing I thankfully received from The Gift Experience was this amazing Home Sweet Home doormat. Not only is it welcoming for when people first arrive but it’s tough and hard wearing and will encourage people to wipe their feet when stepping into my home.

One of the first things you need to do when moving into a new home is celebrate and to do that you need bubbles and glasses! These absolutely gorgeous Astrid Large Wine Glasses come as a set of four with a gorgeous gold honeycomb style effect on the outside and as I said…they’re large, which means more room for bubbles! If you enjoy fine wines – in large glasses – and things in life that are just that little bit fancier, then these stunning Astrid Wine Glasses will do the trick. With these luxurious glasses, you’ll feel like you’ve created your own swanky Soho wine bar in the comfort of your own home.

I think soft furnishings can really change a house from the bare minimum to warm and cosy. I fell in love with this “I Love” Cushion which can be personalised as well. Being that it was for the living room which we have browns and reds in, it was a perfect match and of course I had to make it all about how much we love our new home. Unlike some cushion covers, it does come with a soft and fluffy cushion as well and is also removable meaning it can be washed when sticky fingers get onto it!

I always like multi functional items and this Moroccan Round Metal Wall Shelf is no exception. This gorgeous Moroccan Round Metal Wall Shelf makes a great gift for home-interior enthusiasts, or to add a bang-on-trend touch to any room in your home! A black circular design with two shelves and a space for your fave photo, this wall shelf will make a stylish addition to any living space. Add zen-creating plants, treasured ornaments or cosy candles to this modern shelf, to truly make your house a home.

Of course I also want my home to smell really nice… this is the first time I have actually lived with a boy that is a partner and the thought of boy smell alarms me slightly.

This stylish, and absolutely gorgeous Tabac and Cedarwood Candle and Diffuser Set will make a super sophisticated addition to any space and have your home smelling simply divine.

With a woody mix of leather and tabac, it is wonderfully complemented by citrusy orange on warm base notes of cedarwood. An earthy combination inspired by the deep, rich aroma of lathers in a saddle-maker’s workshop.

Presented in a gift box, this Smith and Co Candle and Diffuser Set is cruelty-free, has a candle with 20 hours burn time and cotton reed sticks for the diffuser.

Finally, with Alyssa starting school and being the organiser in the house, I wanted something for the kitchen to help keep track of everything and to put keys and notes and loose bits of paper on like school letters and the endless stream of party invitations for the little one who has a better social life than me! This scalloped blackboard with 3 hooks was perfect to pop up on the wall in my kitchen. I’m able to write notes on the blackboard, hang keys and loose paper and hang the calendar off of one of the hooks too. I love the country style look of it too!
