Love Crafts: Discover Knitting

Over the years I have gone through a LOT of hobbies. As a young child and through teens it was all about the singing, dancing and baton twirling; basically anything that involved performance. As I grew older, performance was still a huge thing for me as I’d perform in both amateur and professional productions. At some point, my confidence waned and my performing days came to an end. However, after a while, I realised I did still need a creative outlet. Blogging, for a long time, became my sole creative outlet. I would sit down, word vomit onto the page and hit publish and that would be the end. However, when it became abundantly clear that blogging would be my career, for however long it would have me, it became more like work and less so a relaxing creative outlet. Over the last year or so I have done a lot of soul searching; taken up gardening in the form of an allotment and also been able to discover knitting once again which I once did very briefly a long time ago. On my journey to discover knitting and it’s joys once again, Love Crafts offered to help me remember why I’d liked it so much in the first place.

As I said, a long time ago, for a month or two I had a go at knitting, but I didn’t really enjoy it all that much. It was a nice distraction from whatever drama I was going through at the time, but I quickly put down the needles and moved off back into performing. However, last October I was in Hobbycraft with a friend of mine and she was looking at wool and I saw some I absolutely adored and just thought I could give it a go. discover knitting

She sat patiently and showed me how to do things, helped me unpick, start over and also encouraged me when I really wanted to give up Suddenly, something clicked and my needles were clacking away at any possible moment! In fact, as a thank you, I actually made her a hat and scarf for Christmas from some wool she had admired. I watched a few Youtube videos to pick up some skills and even made a little pom pom for the hat.

So, when Love Crafts got in touch and offered me the chance to try out some of their knitting patterns and tools I simply could not resist. They allowed me to choose some patterns I liked and sent this to me, in downloadable form so you have it instantly, and then I was also sent the materials to make them! What’s great is that on the website, when you choose a pattern, it automatically shows the links to all of the products you need AND the quantities required to make the pattern you have chosen into a reality.

I chose a beautiful woollen dress which will be for Alyssa when it is finished. It is my most ambitious project yet and is taking a while as I want to make sure I get it right but I am really loving it! Keep an eye out on my Instagram for knitting project updates. So happy to discover knitting once again.

Tell me – do you knit?
