Something a lot of you may not know about me is that from the age of seven until I was about fourteen or fifteen I was a baton twirler. A majorette. I used to train three times a week and then go off with my team and compete at big International competitions. It was really hard work but a lot of fun too. Now, one of the routines we used to do was an eight minute routine with flags and hoops called an M&M (a military march) which was a very serious routine. There was always a uniform and poise inspection before the routine which we were marked on and then we’d have to do the performance, marching with the right foot on the right beat, getting into our correct places in formation and generally doing everything our trainer had taught us in order to win awards. Now, you may be thinking what on earth has this got to do with a Thunderbirds giveaway, well let me tell you. The M&M that sticks out most prominently in my mind is the one we did to music from Thunderbirds – yes there were 12 of us all in matching blue uniforms – sashes, hats and all marching to the beat of the international rescue. As I said, it was really hard work but definitely brings back some fond memories and so Thunderbirds holds a bit of a special place in my heart….

It’s more of a making Thunderbirds memory, but making that Blue Peter version of Tracey Island!
Ahhh! I loved thunderbirds as a little girl, and it was the one bit of TV I was allowed to watch! Now S is obsessed with thunderbirds. He has a giant thunderbird 2 with the pod and thunderbird 4, and corrects me when I get the characters names wrong! He would go mad for this bundle.
Also. Majorette?! That’s awesome. I love watching parades.
I loved watching this as a child! Lady Penelope was my favourite character and The Perils of Penelope was my favourite episode!
Trying to make a paper mache Tracey Island
My boys (and I) are obsessed with all things International rescue! We don’t have TiVo or sky plus so can’t record episodes and my 7 and 4 year olds would just LOVE this DVD box set so they could watch their heroes any time! Love that this show appears t boys and girls too, so perfect for a boy mom who is bored of ninja turtles ??
It has to be saying FAB
I had a schoolboy crush on Lady Penelope
