You may think I am crazy as it is only September but as a blogger, we start thinking about Christmas in July because that’s when we get to see what toys are being brought out for the festive season and when we start to think about what we will be writing for our audiences. So naturally, when it comes to Christmas, I begin to think what to get people. One of the clearest memories I have of receiving a gift, is the year I got a Furby. I absolutely loved it, carried it everywhere and even made it a little carry house to take it round in. I also remember when I got a Tamigotchi as well – in general I really loved interactive, pet like toys. I was super excited when Spinmaster asked if I’d like to review the new Owleez toy – an interactive owl that you teach to ACTUALLY FLY! I knew if it was as good as it sounded, this would be a great gift for Alyssa for Christmas.
One of the toys that everyone is talking about this year is Owleez the interactive flying owl. Available from Spinmaster the adorable baby owl is an interactive toy that will have the children learning through play as well showing off their flight skills with their siblings and friends.
This adorable baby owl can’t learn to fly indoors without your help and practising together is so much fun! The more you practise, the more comfortable she’ll get. Place her in the included nest and watch as she spreads her wings and magically takes flight right out of the nest.
Every Owleez flight is different, you can watch her soar, help her fly or comfort her after a crash. She’s made of durable and lightweight materials, so when she crashes it’s okay, it’s all part of learning, with over 100 interactive sounds and movements, Owleez responds to your touch, love and care. Feed her the berries when she’s hungry. She likes to be petted, tickled, rocked to sleep and loved and will let you know her mood by changing her eye colour.
In the box, you will get your adorable pink Owleez, a berry food accessory, a nest and instructions. It is an interactive toy, so you have to see what she wants and she responds to your touch. Their eyes light up different colours to let you know what they need. Motion sensors in various places help you to take care of them.
With a little time, she’ll gain the confidence to lift up her head, revealing her blades and begin to fly. The flight times will get longer and longer up to a maximum of 10 seconds as she learns. It’s a good idea to not have any obstacles nearby – or any pets in the room. However, don’t worry too much if it crash lands as it feels pretty sturdy
I was super impressed with this toy. The level of interaction is good – not hard work but not a quick 5 minute job and you’ve mastered the toy. I think this will really teach Alyssa to care for something which I like. The fact it can fly is pretty remarkable and I think will be a huge appeal this holiday season.
Owleez has an RRP of £49.99 which is a little pricey but I think as a main gift and considering all it does, is actually a fair price. You can buy Owleez from Smyths Toys and other retailers.
