Well this has been a different week and a half hasn’t it really?! There have been some very big highs and some not so nice lows. This week has been one of the biggest in my blogs short life and my life come to that. Though my daughter has done a very good job of keeping me grounded and reminding me that first and foremost I am mummy. So, highlights is going to be a little different this week…
We were due to have Alyssa’s one year jabs this week but had to cancel as she has been ill all week up and down. Seems to be a mix of a bug and having about 5 teeth including a couple of big ones coming through at once so we haven’t really done all that much… in terms of being out and about.
However, in Mummy in a Tutu land it has been a monumental week. For those of you that are regular readers you’ll know that nearly two weeks ago I published a ranty little post called
” Get off Your Arse: Blogging isn’t a Real Job!” I never imagined the affect it would have. A few days after publishing I received an email from BBC news asking if they could interview me and write about my story and that evening
“Bloggers Fury over Tax Credits Refusal!” was live.
That next morning I appeared on BBC Radio Solent Breakfast show… twice! Followed by the arrival of the journalist from BBC South Today to do some filming… and that night I found myself hiding behind a cushion and glancing at the television as I appeared on the 6.30pm news.
This week I was also fortunate enough to be approached by the
Huffington Post and
Britmums and amazingly was offered the chance to publish on both! I thought that was where the good news would end and then I got a tweet telling me that I had been included in this months Inspirational Posts over on Britmums for my post called
“You Matter To Me!” a post I wrote for my absolute blogging bestie when she was at her lowest blogging moment to let her know that her voice was being heard.
There have been some downsides to all this fantastic mayhem and they have been that this somewhat tenuous subject has brought the dreaded trolls out of the woodwork – you mention the word benefits in Great Britain these days and immediately people assume you’re on the take and scrounge. I spoke all about them and how they were making me feel in
“Life Goals: I’m A Lazy Benefit Scammer!!”
It has been quite an amazing week and all because I got a bit ranty about the fact that HMRC don’t consider my job as a blogger to be a good enough job to qualify for tax credits. It raises the interesting question though… if blogging isn’t a real job does that mean at the end of the year I won’t need to pay taxes and I’ll be able to keep all the money I’ve event for myself?? Doubt it!!
Hope you guys have had a good week!
