Highlights of the Week: #15

Okay, so I don’t know if anyone out there pays close enough attention – but this should technically be week 16. However, last weekend I took some time away and spent the Easter Weekend with my family and kind of left a little radio silence on my blog. I was still there but I didn’t post – another reason being I am having serious issues with a distinct lack of time.

Anyhoo I am back and here are some highlights for you this week:

1. Offline – I thought it might be nice to have one of my highlights each week be a photo as I am a very snap happy person and am constantly taking photos (good and bad ) every day. So this week my Highlight Photo was ‘The Easter Bunny!’ This is in fact, my mum, helping me out by posing in a costume for another blog post I wrote. She is a total legend and my nephew and Alyssa got a funny surprise when Nonna went to say hello in her bunny outfit!

2. Online – #TribalChat is still going strong and gaining new members each week which is lovely – and sometimes hard to keep track of ha ha! The lovely Catie over@animperfectmum hosted last weeks which was a great success. She had some really awesome questions – funny and thought provoking! Next week is the turn of Michela over @themummydiarie3 and we can’t wait!

 3. Offline – I did a review and giveaway this week for the wonderful people over @envytations(you can read the review and maybe still enter the competition here) and they were so pleased that I had a lovely surprise the following day when a beautiful bunch of flowers appeared at my door! Such a lovely gesture from lovely people. You really should head over and check out their great business – do it… do it now right here in fact!!

4. Online – As I mentioned I have been frantically scrabbling around for time recently, but I did manage to join in with a brand new (for me) linky this week #BloggerClubUK hosted by the lovely @CuddleFairy and@MudpieFridays Already I am in love with this linky and have received some lovely comments for my post “Personal Ad: Blogger Seeks Husband!” (yes you read that right!!) Can’t wait to link up again next week ladies!

5. Offline – We have been hitting a couple of minor milestones this week that have brought a tear to my eye. My little bubba is now such a big girl, that I have had to go out and get her a new car seat (luckily this should last her for a few years now!!) and I have had to change the pram seating over to that of a push chair now, where my big girl can sit up and see everything that is going on (which of course brought squeals of delight and satisfaction!) Where on earth has my baby gone? She’s going to be 1 in 3 months!!

6. Online – Anyone else realise that it’s blogging awards season?? You would have to be blind not to have noticed! Well, despite the fact that my blog is only just entering it’s 5th month (WOW) I have been nominated in a few categories for the MAD awards which I was so touched by and it just amazes me. A huge thank you to anyone who nominated me and if you haven’t…. did you know that if you click the MADS above that it will take you to the nomination page??!! Well, fancy that coincidence!

7. Offline – I have had a few lovely trips out this week with my mum, trailing round Organic Farm shops, delis and cafes trying out some really lovely ingredients. I like making homemade (healthy) vegetable crisps and I kid you not, the other day we found a beetroot the size of my fist! That is going to make some really lovely, yummy crisps which will be a really nice and healthy snack for us all! It has also been nice getting some fresh produce to try out recipes for Alyssa – the girl is going to turn into a carrot this week!

 8. Online – So, carrying on with what seems to be a popular point on my highlight posts, is my most useful blog post that I have found and this week it comes from the forever amazing Aby over @youbabymemummy. I swear this woman is like a fountain of useful knowledge (whereas I come out with random stuff like being able to tell my mother that The Bleeding Heart flower is the official funeral flower of Tibet – anyone know where I got that from?!?) ANYYYwayy, remember how I said I feel like I have been struggling for time recently, well Aby’s post ‘Freelancers! How to Strike Gold in your Work/Life Balance’ really resonated with me and gave me a lot of food for thought. It is definitely something I have to actively think about now working from home!

9. Offline – I am so happy to say that after doing battle with my doctor’s surgery several times and finally getting them to realise that calpol alone was not going to help my baby girl, that I have one happy and healthy Alyssa – finally! I am so glad I trusted my instincts and took her back again and again. I don’t care if I annoyed the crap out of them because at least now she is healthy once again after nearly A MONTH of being unwell! So glad to see that cheeky smile again!

10. Online – As I briefly hit upon earlier, my blog is now 5 MONTHS OLD! I can’t believe in some respects that I have only been doing this 5 months because I can’t imagine or remember a time when I didn’t feel the need to write every experience down. However, at the same time I am still such a newbie, but we are going strong over here at Mummy in a Tutu HQ aka my dining room table or on lazier days my bed! I have such a sense of pride over what I have managed to achieve these last few months and know that it is only going to get better! Thanks to everyone who has been so supportive – you ROCK!

So, that’s how we have been doing this week – how about you? Tell me all your news!
