Christmas Gift Guide: Boys & Girls!

I have always adored Christmas ever since I can remember – my mum always worked so hard to make it incredibly special for us and if I thought about it hard enough I could probably remember each and every glimpse I stole each Christmas morning of the tree and the presents before everyone else was awake. Becoming a mummy has amplified my excitement and love for the holiday even more – I know she was so little at only four months for her first Christmas, but waking up with her that morning and opening her first ever little stocking will be something I treasure and remember always. The magic that children feel at Christmas is completely infectious and to be honest I think some of that magic still lives inside me… kind of like that film Rise of the Guardians; you just have to have a little faith and belief! Now, I get to buy presents for little girl and for my strapping nephew too, not forgetting my gorgeous little niece as well so I am all about the kids presents. I have been scouting round for a while now, so here is my guide for the littles in your life…

Alyssa in organic clothing black and pink dress and black and white striped leggings and headbandTed Wears Organic

Anyone who follows the blog will know how much we love this clothing company – amazing designs and the quality is obvious from the moment you open the carefully wrapped parcels. Available for both boys and girls with anything from leggings to harem pants to skirts to jumpers and dresses they literally have everything and more that you could want for your little one – don’t forget the matching headbands (those are our favourite!!!) The lovely Vicky who is the creator and maker of this gorgeous clothing is incredibly creative and is happy to adapt anything to suit your tastes. Once of our favourite aspects is that you can mix and match the clothing items with any and all patterns to get an outcome that you really want!

‘Ted Wears Organic’ was born from my toddler needing to have practical clothes to play in that scream style in fabric that’s gorgeously soft and unique.I love simple but understated designs for kid’s play-wear with a dash of Scandi inspiration and this is where the Pick ‘n’ Mix Wardrobe principle comes in. You can see which garments can be combined with others and with the specially selected fabrics, the co-ordinates and options can be made to what you want them to be!

Visit the Ted Wears Organic Shop and kit your kids out this Christmas – add “XMASTUTU” at the till and you will get 15% off your shop too!

Little girl and boy on a cobbled street looking at a mapTreasure Trails

If you’re looking for something new to do with the children at the weekend – and want something to encourage them outdoors – then why not try a Treasure Trail; an imaginative and fun way to explore. Treasure Trails are self-guided themed walking treasure hunts, ideal for discovering more about where you live or for taking on holiday. They offer a great value activity that everyone, whatever their age, can enjoy doing together.

You can choose between three themes; a Treasure Hunt, a Spy Mission or a Murder Mystery.  At the outset of each Trail the ‘mission’ is given – to find the treasure, crack the spy code or discover the ‘whodunnit’. You then follow an easy route and answer a series of clues involving some interesting, scenic and historical sights along the way to find the answers.

There are over 1,100 different Treasure Trials available, covering towns, cities and rural areas across the UK. All Trails are listed on the website so you should easily find somewhere you would like to explore.

Head over to the Treasure Trails Shop and send your kids on an adventure this Christmas!

giftingLost My Name

Last year, Alyssa’s daddy got her the Lost My Name book in which a little girl travels through the book finding the different missing letters of her name and at the end of the story her name is complete – this was personalised so that the name that was found obviously was Alyssa and it is a gorgeously illustrated book and wonderful story that she will be able to enjoy for years to come and can then be kept as a memento too! Now, if you already have that one never fear, they have recently released “The Intergalactic Journey Home” which is the story of how your little character (personalised by name and gender) makes their way home… all the way to your child’s real life address with a little maps shot of their very own home… yet another great idea for a personalised book for your little ones! Lost My Name has such a wonderful ethos…

Dragons, unicorns, rabbits in top hats… there used to be loads of magic in the world. Now we’re on a mission to bring it back – and to make millions of children around the world more curious, clever and kind. How? By combining the power of amazing stories, with the possibilities of technology, to create magical, personalised experiences for kids. As missions go, it’s rather splendid.

To get your own personalised books for the kids this season check out the Lost My Name Shop now!

kids toddle bike in redToddle Bike

Alyssa has had a light up musical train for a while and has only recently discovered that she can sit on the carriage and push herself along, all the while going “choo-choo” and attempting to pull wheelies on it too which is not the best idea really so I thought it would be a great idea to get her something that was made toddling… wheel in the new Toddle Bike 2!! The Toddle bike 2 is a new and improved version of the hugely popular Toddle bike.

This innovative “pre-balance” bike is specially designed for children that have begun to walk confidently as it’s lightweight and ideal for cycling indoors and out. Children can get to grips with learning to ride a bike without needing to worry about pedals. It helps to develop your little one’s motor skills such as balance, co-ordination, turning and self-propulsion. Alyssa’s independence is growing daily and we’re getting to the point where she really wants to have more freedom to move by herself so I think this Christmas this is the perfect gift.. on cold rainy days she can practice indoors but when the rain stops and the sun comes out we can head down to the park and see what she can really do!
To grab your little one a Toddle Bike in red, blue or pink you can visit The Online Shop Here and toddle away with a great gift!

Colour Their Dayuntitled-design-1

Now, I think I have found a really unique gift here… my nephew is now starting to pay huge attention to his surroundings and when he moved house a few months ago he got a brand new room with a sort of superhero/gamer sort of theme… well I was lucky enough to come across these gorgeous prints! I think they are lovely and the superhero one will definitely fit in with his theme and I like the cartoon animation of it too!
You have all seen Alyssa and know she is a little tutu diva who loves to sing and dance, so this little ballerina one will be perfect to go in her room too – she has a little bunny in a tutu so I am sure this will fit right into her room.
This wonderful little surprise company also do romantic prints, other children’s characters, prints for parents, party bits, cards, stickers and more – I am sure you’ll find plenty that your little or big ones would love!!
Go on over to Colour Their Day Shop and see what beautiful items they have that you can give this season!

The Curiosity Box1024px-girl_uses_a_magnifying_glass_to_study_plant_life_in_the_tundra_of_the_rocky_mountains-_the_denver_pta_sponsored_a-_-_nara_-_543740

It has to be said the subscription boxes are all the rage at the moment for both adults and kids, but I haven’t been all that bowled over by the kids ones yet. It seems to be all about superheroes or computer gaming though I have seen some pretty nifty craft ones. Imagine my excitement when I came across The Curiosity Box – move over Albert Einstein because there will be a new genius making their way to the front soon! This great subscription box for kids is like all the best science lessons rolled into each box! Kids will get to experiment and explore how all the amazing things in the world work! Here’s what they said about their idea…

We want to make the world a better place, and believe that young people and science are a powerful combination that can affect positive social change . We want to disrupt education by re-balancing the value placed on education children receive at home with more formal education. We want to give every child the opportunity to become the next Marie Curie, Albert Einstein or Ada Lovelace. Just like Mary Poppins’ spoon full of sugar, we believe that The Curiosity Box provides just the right ingredients to make great scientists!

I think my nephew is going to absolutely love this and so I will definitely be signing him up for this – visit The Curiosity Box Shop now and sign your future scientists up too!

Pretend to Bee

Thunderbirds are Go!!  You cannot beat a good dress-up can you? I always had a dressing up box at home and used to have great fun with my sister dressing up. My nephew was the same and was always dressed as something whether it was a cook or a character from Lazy Town. This Christmas we need to buy a present for Alyssa’s cousin Leo who is about 8 months older than her and is such a little character himself… so what better gift than one to set his imagination racing!

Pretend to Bee has the most amazing array of role play costumes and character costumes for kids to play with as well as toys and games too! I think it is so important to encourage their imaginations at a young age and if they get to make believe that they are Virgil Tracey heading out to complete another Thunderbirds mission and save the day… why not?! They also have some great Christmas costumes as well as some very fitting ones for that dreaded Book Costume Day at school!

Dressing Up Costumes comply with the EC Toy Safety Directive and EN71 Toy Safety Standards which mean the products are Low Flammability, Azo Dye Free, Formaldehyde Free, and Toxic Free.

Alyssa and her cousin will be dressing up this Christmas so why don’t you join them and visit the Pretend to Bee Shop now!
