Are You Concerned About the Resale Value of Your Designer Bag?

Many people think that a designer handbag is just one of those ‘nice to have’ items – ultimately a waste of money, but it’s worth it because you’ve wanted that particular bag for so long. But that’s not always true. Spending your money on a designer handbag doesn’t always mean your hard-earned cash is going to waste – sometimes it can actually be a very worthwhile investment. Some designer bags can actually increase in value over time and end up being sold for even more than they were bought for. If you’re considering buying a designer bag and are concerned about the resale value, keep these tips in mind.

Buy a Limited Edition or Rare Bag:

A rare or limited edition bag is more likely to accrue value over the years compared to one that was just a standard edition. Unfortunately, this often means that you have to spend more money initially as limited-edition designer bags don’t always come cheap – you’ll have to splurge on a diamond-encrusted Hermes bag or another very expensive, rare bag. If you’ve got the money it can be worth the gamble but bear in mind that not all limited-edition bags are going to be worth more in the future. It can depend on a number of factors like fashion trends and how well the brand does. Still, you’re always going to get more reselling a limited-edition bag, even if you don’t make all your money back.

Keep the Bag in Perfect Condition:

You know that the better condition your bag is in, the more money you can charge when selling it later. Since it is a fashion item, any small amount of wear and tear can cause your bag’s value to seriously plummet. Even if you are sure to take extremely good care of your bag, using it alone is going to lead to some wear on the leather or fabric. How you store the bag is also important; you should keep it in the provided dust-bag and don’t store it underneath a pile of other bags. You should never, ever allow it to get wet, as this can cause serious humidity damage.

Shop Around When Buying;

Finally, an easy way to try and get more when reselling a designer bag in the future is to try and spend as little as you can on it when you initially buy. A good way to do this is to search for online designer outlet stores like SSENSE, where you may be able to take advantage of sales and promotions cheaper than on the high street. Search the high street for that Saint Laurent bag that you like and then go online to see if you can find it at SSENSE for less. They have a wide range of Saint Laurent bag options, plus many more from popular designer brands like Versace, Bottega, Valentino, and Gucci.

If you want to buy a designer bag but are concerned about the value when reselling it, keep these strategies in mind when searching for and using your perfect bag.
