That Warm Fuzzy Feeling…

title on a red glitter bauble
“Oh holy night, the stars are brightly shining…” One of my all time favourite Christmas songs that just simply makes me smile. Where Christmas is concerned I am not sure that I have ever truly grown up and actually still have no desire to do so now either . Christmas and everything about it is still full of magic and wonder for me and is by far my favourite time of year. So now as the nights grow darker and the temperature drops as fast as the leaves, I thought I’d share with you the things about Christmas that just give me that warm, fuzzy feeling each and every time…

FAMILY – Well they are the main back bone to what makes my Christmas so special . No matter what we are all doing well all cram into one house and bunker up for 3 or 4 days of mayhem together and it’s wonderful to spend so much time together without every day interruptions and now that I have Alyssa it is even more magical . alyssa and i last year looking at our tree with lights on
LIGHTS – There is just something about Festive Lights and don’t ask me what they are just magical . They are the first decoration to go up on the tree and the last to come down and I love to just take a moment and stand silently looking person in rudolph jumper holding a ball of christmas lightsat them twinkling there, ready to help with yet another Christmas. One of the most magical Christmas light displays I have seen is the light show and singing Christmas Tree at Longleat – I saw this for the first time at age 29 and stood there with my mouth open in wonder just like every child there… amazing !
FOOD – It had to be on the list didn’t it?! We’re not big drinkers so it is all about the food and there is nothing better than watching our store cupboard and fridge slowly fill in the run up to Christmas and then to all dive in and eat truly decadently for a few days. My mum and I always spend a day or two in the kitchen getting everything ready and prepped and making our own Christmas sweets and cheese twists and sausage rolls and chutneys…. okay I’m hungry now!!a work top with christmass cookies cut out and flour on it with cookie cutters
TRADITIONS – We have so many little traditions as a family that when put together really do make Christmas what it is. We have a big Mexican feast for Christmas eve dinner, we all open our stockings together in our pj’s before breakfast, we all have a big black sack each to put our presents in so we don’t lose them amongst all the paper and we all have to wear the hats we pull out of our crackers . There are a million more including playing every board game under the sun over Christmas that we know and love and I wouldn’t change any of them.
lots of different multicoloured christmas decorations and stars
I suddenly noticed after writing my list that presents weren’t on there – whist they’re great they are not the be all and end all of Christmas . I love that warm fuzzy feeling I get in the run up to Christmas and writing this has definitely jump started it. Tell me, what gives you that warm fuzzy feeling?

I too am a self-confessed Christmas addict. I have no shame in it. They first lights or Christmas music give me the fuzzy feeling! It’s not about presents, it’s just about the magic and happiness to be with friends and family. I loves it! #ablogginggoodtime

  4. I’m with you, I love Christmas, I can’t wait. I love fairy lights, my husband just rolls his eyes when I crack open another box lol. I truly find that it’s the one time of year I can properly relax with no expectations of things to do. Bring on the Pyjama day. #ablogginggoodtime

I love this! I agree with everything on your list although in our family I think booze would have to be included ? Oh I love it, eating so much food, playing games, the music and decorations… bliss!! We do a ‘practice’ Christmas at my brother in law’s at the start of December and in some ways it’s better without the presents -the kids don’t get overwhelmed or jealous of each other and we just all enjoy each other’s company and the great food and drink! #ablogginggoodtime

  8. I’m so excited about Christmas this year!! First year of making traditions with my family. First year of watching my child open presents (he won’t understand it) but nonetheless I’m super excited! #ablogginggoodtime

I start to look forward to Christmas around this time of year and even more so once the shopping is done – it is one part I find a bit stressful! Probably because i never know what to buy! It is a magical time though and with children it brings a whole new meaning. #ablogginggoodtime

Ooooh I’m so excited for Christmas! This is my first Christmas as a blogger and I’m totally loving the fact that Christmas blogging season starts at the beginning of November! I love all the lights too. My family has loads of traditions surrounding Christmas. But my hubby and I have also enjoyed making our own traditions for us and our girls. Christmas with kids around is definitely the best! #ABloggingGoodTime

I love Christmas as much as I love Halloween. The two holidays are complete opposites and fill me with completely different feelings and I love the fuzzies Christmas gives me. I love the lights and the traditions that I have with my family and have shared with my kids. Thanks for hosting #ablogginggoodtime

I love the street decorations and lights. Not just the hughstreet but the effort people make on their houses- we have some great ones around us that must cost them a small fortune to fun each year! And the general excitement building through December- magical! xx #ablogginggoodtime

  15. I’ve always loved Christmas and even though last year wasn’t as great as I had hoped (far too many expectations from me about having our first family christmas with our kids) I know that this year will be so much better and I am just going to enjoy the festivities rather than worrying about perfection! #ablogginggoodtime

  16. Oh I love Christmas and this year will be even more magical as my little girl will understand a bit more! Nothing better than that warm fuzzy feeling!

I love Christmas and everything about it, especially the few weeks before the actual day. I love the excitement and anticipation that builds up the closer the day gets, watching Xmas films, seeing family we don’t often see. It’s just perfect.

I am so excited for Christmas to really begin…it never loses it’s thrill! We have the tradition of opening our main presents (the ones under the tree) after lunch because my Dad used to be a farmer and was always working on Christmas morning. We have kept this going and my children now have to wait until after lunch, it makes all the excitement last that much longer!

  22. I totally agree, Christmas is a fantastic time of year and I LOVE it. The fairy lights are my favourite too and just the magic that envelops the world. Everyone is so much more cheerful, you don’t sweat the small stuff and for a short time you can forget all that’s wrong with the world and just enjoy yourself. Ooh feeling festive now! x #ablogginggoodtime
