Can We Get There?

Highlights of the Week: #29
17th December 2016
Ever since I was a little girl I have had long hair and there has only ever been one incident (we won’t talk about that) where my hair has ever been above my shoulders. Whatever the length though it has always been very thick and heavy meaning that every time I have it cut, it gets thinned out a little to make it lighter to stop it getting too heavy and giving me headaches and in the summer making me too hot. It now looks like Alyssa will be following in my footsteps when it comes to hair as despite the fact it is still quite short, it is already incredibly thick and is actually deceptively long due to the fact that she has these gorgeous  little ringlets. I am having trouble taming the little monkeys hair at times as well as my own (despite my lovely new haircut) so Tegen Accessories sent us a few goodies to try and help…

pink and purple snap clips with floral design

First up came the Pink and Lilac Snap Clips for Alyssa – I thought these were really cute and obviously very girly in their colouring which suits Alyssa down to the ground. One thing I really liked was the fact that they weren’t too hard to snap shut as they seemed to have quite a gently snap which is perfect for a little one still getting used to hair accessories.

Next up came these cute Mini Gingham Bows Bandau – we got the pale pink one. Now, Alyssa has been wearing headbands since she was  born (yes I am one of those types of parents) so we had no problem popping this one  on and it was nice and soft too. They’re £2.25 each so they aren’t bad but for a little one who doesn’t “need” them I’d probably look for something cheaper despite the great quality.

Now onto the really important bits…. mine! First of all I got this lovely Medium Banana Clip (which is also available in large) and I have to say I had never used one before. I would definitely have needed the larger one if I hadn’t just got my hair cut and thinned but now it is slightly shorter this works fine and is much easier to find than the elusive hairbands that seem to vanish into thin air. It seems well made and I don’t think it would break easily so I think it is worth the money – especially if you’d use it frequently.

Next came the Large Sophia Slide Hair Claw in blue though it is available in 7 different colours. I have to say that this item was my favourite – it was strong, can be tucked in at the side of the hair so it is not so dominant and I think the midnight blue colouring is absolutely gorgeous. However, whilst I appreciate that this gorgeous slide is handmade in France and is of the highest quality, I do think it is quite expensive, but if you are after the best, I’m not sure you could find any better… you get what you pay for!

Finally, I received the Octopus Thick Hair Claw which I have to say held my hair really well and would probably have been fine even without my hair cut. Once again this clip is made in a variety of colours so there are plenty to choose from. Once again, this clip is handmade in France with quality materials and I do think this clip is worth the money as I could spend a lot more on cheap clips that either don’t hold my hair or break far too easily!

I am definitely going to recommend Tegen Accessories as in my experience despite the price tags they do provide quality products which at the end of the day is the most important factor. The clips I have received for both myself and Alyssa will last a long time and the fact they are handmade makes them even better in my opinion. So if you fancy taming your mane like me, pop over to their site and take a look!
