Series: I’m A Blogging Success Because.. Week 1

Success comesĀ in all shapes and sizes doesn’t it? It can be an award you’ve waited your whole life to get. It could be recognition for something or from someone that matters. Or it could be something as small as your child saying I love you. We don’t celebrate success, in whatever form enough in my opinion and over the past few weeks and months with the madness that isĀ blogging awards and particularity in the past week with my fight to get blogging seen as a real job, I have come to realise that everyone is a success in their own right. So, we find ourselves here and with me opening up the doors to Mummy in a Tutu for the first time to a guest post series. This series is here for any and all bloggers to talk about success; their success or the success of someone else that they want to recognise. Welcome to “I’m a blogging success because….”

What makes a successful blog?notebook and computer

Success, how do we measure it? Is it money earnt? Status gained? Awards won? If so, then in terms of blogging, Iā€™m afraid to say that I am not a success. However, what if success isnā€™t any of those things? What if success is just getting up and doing something that makes you happy? Doing something you believe in? Being courageous enough to put yourself ā€˜out thereā€™ on a regular basis? Well if so then I am pleasewoman sat typing on a laptpd to say I am a success when it comes to blogging. I w
rite what I believe in. I share my experiences, funny stories, parenting fails, learning curves and fears. I strive to make my blog inclusive and relatable. Most importantly I love doing it!

Much like parenting, the definition of success means different things to different people. It could be having children who excel at school, for some itā€™s having children who have impeccable manners, while for others itā€™s getting through the day without the children trying to throttle each other. Itā€™s all relative and means different things to different people.

So next time you think about success, think about what it means to you, not to others, and I am sure you will find that you too are a great success at what you are doing!

  2. Great idea for a series! And I agree success means differently to everyone. And I love this definition by Roots & Wings Parenting.

  3. Clare Bailey says:

Fantastic idea for a blog theme. I’m a ‘ cup half-full’ kind of person and can really relate to this. Love this first post.

  4. I love the idea behind this series and totally agree with what was said above. Success is all about doing what makes you happy.

  5. Fab idea for a series. I’m really pleased to be part of it. I look forward to reading others take on blogging success.

  6. Nikki Thomas says:

I totally agree with this, success isn’t always about awards and money. I think this is exactly what blogging is and should be about.

  7. I love this idea and will be sending you my piece soon! #ablogginggoodtime

Brilliant idea. Thinking about your blog this way (and your life) can really help you to refocus #ablogginggoodtime

  10. Rebecca says:

So much love for this <3 Really inspiring and a great way to think… refreshing as so many of us can get bogged down by numbers, analytics and finances. Happiness is far more important!

  11. It is very difficult to quantify success, you are right, great read #ablogginggoodtime

  12. Love this first post in the series – so important to focus on what success means to you and your own achievements rather than trying to compare yourselves to others. #ablogginggoodtime

  13. From Day Dot says:

Love this idea and it’s so interesting to hear other people’s viwes on what success is as I really think it’s different for every person and changes at different stages of their life. This series will get people thinking differently and more positively I’m sure! #ablogginggoodtime xx

  14. What a great idea for a series! I love reading about what motivates others and the different ways that success can be measured. I would love to take part in this! #ablogginggoodtime

  15. themotherhub says:

As with everything we need to compare ourselves only to our own ideals and goals, and not to others. Can be hard to carry out in practice though! #ablogginggoodtime

  16. This is a really fun idea for a series, and I agree with the definition here. It’s more important for blogging to make you happy in its own right than to wait around for awards & money. #ablogginggoodtime

  17. Petite Words says:

Good for you ! I absolutely agree it’s got to be self-satisfying because lovely as the other stuff is, it’s never worth blogging solely for that x #ablogginggoodtime

  18. What a great idea for a series! I love the idea that success is so subjective – that is so true. Doing something that motivates you is certainly a success in itself. It’s lovely to hear Roots and Wings thoughts. Thank you for sharing. Alison x #ablogginggoodtime

  19. I love this series – very well said!

    #ablogginggoodtime

  20. Nice little post to wake up to this morning!

  21. Sonia says:

I hear so many reasons for blogging, it’s so individual. This series could run and run! #ablogginggoodtime

  22. Lucy At Home says:

What a fab idea for a series! Spread a bit of positivity around! I love her advice too about measuring success by your own standards and priorities rather than everyone else’s. That’s really got me thinking. Thanks! #ABloggingGoodTime

  23. Ah yes, the definition of success within our society is so narrow. We can have all the trappings of success and not feel good at all. Success really is a personal thing! #ablogginggoodtime

  24. wonderful sentiment – think about what success means to you and not to others – sadly too many people think of success in terms of what others think of them – beautifully put! #ablogginggoodtime

  25. I feel successful when people write wonderful comments because they share some of the issues I have discussed. Most of my blog posts relate to campaigning for accessibility but I have shared my heart in a few and it is lovely to know that people have felt less alone because of reading my post. #ablogginggoodtime

  26. What a great idea for a blog post…love it! #ablogginggoodtime

  28. I’m all for this!! We don’t pat ourselves on the back often enough if you ask me- my reward of choice tends to be chocolate! ? #ablogginggoodtime

  29. Helena says:

Great post and idea for a series. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in stats and get frustrated when we have yet to get an award for something. #Ablogginggoodtime

  30. I really think success is in the eye of the beholder. Some people achieve a great amount but don’t feel successful whereas others may achieve something small but it feels like a great success to them. I know I find it hard to see success in the things I do. An interesting series I look forward to reading it!

    Amina xx

  31. So easy to get caught up in numbers even when it’s not what you are interested in. Love this and the series idea #ablogginggoodtime

  32. Holly says:

Love to read positive posts like this. Thanks for sharing. #ablogginggoodtime

  33. Lynne says:

Loved this – success is all relative. It reminded me of the quote, “comparison is the thief of joy”, although I can’t remember who said it! I’m not going to measure my success on the my ability to remember quote sources, so that’s OK. #ablogginggoodtime

  34. This is such a great idea for a series. Success really is subjective. We all spend far too much time looking for validation from some outside source when we should be looking to ourselves and our own definition of success.
    #Ablogginggoodtime

  35. Tammymum says:

Ah this is very true, especially when it comes to blogging, success really is subjective and using others as a yard stick really isn’t the way to do it! #ablogginggoodtime xx

  36. I agree too! It’s not always about money or stats. If you love what you do then that’s a success!

    #ABloggingGoodTime

  37. Erin says:

I always need to hear these things; that success isn’t necessarily measured by money or notoriety. Thank you for reminding me that if I love what I’m doing, I’m doing it right! <3

  38. Sometimes you just have to type to feel better. Bravo to you, a tru success.

  39. wendy says:

Ohh I love this! Define be eagerly reading all the future posts in this series. I agree blogging success doesn’t have to be all about awards and stats, sometimes it’s the little things that make us the most proud xx #blogginggoodtime

  40. Kat says:

Love this! I agree, success can mean whatever it needs to mean to different people, if you are happy and believe you are successful, then you are! #ablogginggoodtime

  41. Fab idea darling I love it as reading other peoples ideas of success encourage me to redefine my own :)Offers more ways which I can be happy and feel I have been successful xx #ablogginggoodtime
