That Time Sony Saved Me

What I Want From 2018
10th January 2018
I’m a fairly organised person – I kind of have to be with everything I need to get done on a daily/weekly basis. Sometimes it’s really hard to keep track and I actually end up creating more work for myself trying to work out what I actually have and haven’t done. When I do that silly thing of taking on way too much then I really create a problem and want to do nothing more than bury myself in the sand and hide from the world. So I’m trying to get even more organised this year and thought I might not be the only one. I did a bit of scouting round and research and decided to pop together a list of ways to get organised.

As I said, I’m not horrendously disorganised but I definitely need more order in my life to cut out some of the extra work I create for myself and I’ve definitely found some great ways to help get my life running smoothly.

There are 4 of us in the house but have a large family of over 10 and it comes in handy knowing what everyone is doing especially when everyone expects you to remember anyway. So, my first step into organising this year is to have a big family wall calendar where we each have a different colour to represent us. So any time someone gets and appointment or has an event we can just pop it up there and make sure we don’t clash…. Or forget.

An obvious one but a classic. However, I am going to be using a diary for a very specific purpose in regards to my blog. I have a lot of post arriving on a daily basis with things for the blog so it’s good to pop a note in a diary saying what has arrived and when. Then I can time and schedule when review posts need to go out. A diary I am finding is also very good for making a note of when I’ve sent an invoice and when I have been paid. There are some lovely diaries over at Ryman and I’ve bagged myself a gorgeous leather-bound teal one that is going to keep me organised all year.

Bullet Journal

Now you might be thinking that this also creates more work for me which technically I suppose it does but it also seriously saves me time and completely feeds my want and need for stationery, washi tape and all things colouring. I spent a couple of hours over two days in an evening prepping the whole of January and then I will do the same when we get close to the end of the month. Pages I’ve done so far include a year in view, a monthly planner, day by day sections, weekly meal planners, income and outgoings, weight loss tracker, fitness tracker and blog post planning and I’m loving having everything all in one place.

We’re only a few days into the New Year and I am already feeling really positive about getting organised. I think this will also help me stay motivated as it’s so easy to burnout or hide when it all becomes a bit much. Do you have any more suggestions on ways to be organised?! If you do pop them in the comments as I could always use more!!
*We were sent a Ryman Journal in exchange for review – all opinions are our own.

  1. I think taking the time to plan out your week makes it so much more productive – I’m with you sister! x

  2. one of my favourite things is to fill out my planner and family calendar as I am stationary obsessed and I love the idea of being organised and then I totally ignore it! Yes I become completely disorganised and write all my posts on a whim and am seriously such last minute girl, it is terrible! I so admire you!

Your bullet journal looks really pretty! I like some elements of bullet journaling, which I’ve adapted for my planning/tracking, but I find the whole system a bit complex and time consuming. I do love to look at everyone else’s pretty layouts, though! đŸ˜‰ #ablogginggoodtime

  4. LOVE organizing all aspects of mine and my family’s lives. đŸ™‚

I’m working day to day at the moment because there is so much going on. Roll on half term I say! #ablogginggoodtime

  9. I’ve got myself a bullet planner this year — kinda like a BuJo but with all the stuff done already. I’m not super creative or artsy and so it helps me to have things there already. I’m using it for my life but not my day job which has a separate boring diary at work to keep track of appointments! đŸ™‚
