Baby Essentials

A changing bag, for me, is kind of like a woman’s handbag; dark, mysterious and you never know what you might find. Everyone feels the need for different items to be available to them, but for me this is my 17 (!!!!) essential items.

1. 5 Nappies & Nappy Sacks – you never know how long you will be out or how many “instances” your little darling will have or if there’s a bin available.

2. Cotton Wool & Organic Wipes – My bubba has a sensitive bum so I take cotton wool to clean her and wipes for explosive situations.

3. Changing mat – Always handy as you don’t know how clean some places are.

4. 3 Spare Outfits – all it takes is one throw up,  some heavy rain and a dodgy nappy and you’ll be in Mothercare buying another outfit.

5. 3 Muslin Cloths & Bibs – in an aim to avoid needing the three outfits.

6. Sterile Box with Dummies & Nipple Guards – Alyssa is a pretty good shot at firing her dummy so I always take spares in a sterile box along with nipple guards for feeding.

7. A Change Purse – for car parks or emergency coffee’s when needed.

8. Bottle of Expressed Milk – I always prefer to breast feed but in case I really feel uncomfortable, I have a bottle of expressed milk just in case.

9. Bottle of Boiling water & Bottle Warmer – to use for bum washing with the cotton wool.

10. Miniature Cream & Vaseline – to avoid sore bums.

11. Drink & Tablet- for the rare moment that Alyssa may choose to sleep , contentedly while we are out.

12. Blanket – to keep Alyssa cosy.

13. Paracetamol – just because!

14. Tissues – because it’s cold season

15. Bag Carry Strap – Life saver for carrying all the heavy shopping bags

16. Bag For Life – so I don’t get that look from the cashier when I have to buy a bag because I left them all at home.

17. (Finally) Hand Sanitizer or Wipes – for before and after those previously mentioned “instances”.

Shockingly this does all fit in my changing bag and it isn’t that heavy, but if I am going too far, that’s what the pram is for. So tell me, what’s in your bag?
