Blogger on the Move

This is a collaborative post.
For more than the first year of my blogging life, I wasn’t overly impressed with my photography and this was primarily to do with the fact that I used my phone. Let’s be honest, there is only so much magic a filter and photoshop can do. Don’t get me wrong, the pictures were perfectly fine and in some cases, I’d catch a really good moment. But more often than not the quality might be a bit dodgy, where I’d tried and failed to zoom in to just the right amount. In most cases it would be blurred because my little one would have moved a millimetre (millimetre. Mile. Same thing) and this would always be why I’d have fifty odd photos of the same thing, in the hope that one would be usable…

Then my world completely changed. I was obviously a particularly good girl last year because for Christmas, Santa brought me a brand-new Canon camera and I think it may be the first time I have fallen completely in love with something other than a person. Those following my Instagram will see that it has completely changed the way I take photos. I also find I am not taking a million photos of the same thing and then having to spend hours sorting through to find the only one I am able to use. Alyssa on the grass picking daisies

It’s so important to get kids outside as even from a young age they are prone to spending way too much time indoors and I am trying to encourage this habit in my little one by going out, even if just for a walk, every day we can. We love nothing more than trampling through the woods, climbing stairs to get to slippery slides or chasing waves across the sand. Of course, each and every one of these outings is an opportunity to capture wonderful moments to be rememwoman taking a picture with a blue backgroundbered always. It’s all well and good if I am just going for a nice little outing with Alyssa, but sometimes I need to take products with me, too. Products and items that need photographing in order to appear on the blog.

Don’t get me wrong, I am no Picasso or anything but I take pride in what I do and when travelling to all these different places, I worry about my camera. It is one of my most treasured possessions and I would hate to see anything happen to it. A friend of mine suggested I take a look at The Case Farm – they do some brilliant cases I could use to help keep my camera safe. Not only that, I found that they also do them for phones, computers, tablets and all sort, for any and all situations, whether I am being mum or blogger me.

Getting closer and closer to my two year ”blogiversary” and I am still (luckily) going from strength to strength, that is starting to involve a lot more travelling, staying away and going on adventures. Combine that with the fact that I am also moving to a new house in the next few weeks and I definitely think I could do with getting some protection for all my tech. No tech? No blogger. What do you do? Do you use a standard soft case to store and transport your equipment or do you have something more protective?

  1. I know something that still lets me down is the quality of my photos. I am still just using a phone camera. #ablogginggoodtime

I have gone through the same thing using my phone camera. It takes decent enough pictures but then I see friends whose pictures are so much better and I wonder what I’m doing wrong. I’ve been considering getting a camera because I hike a lot, especially in the summer and I love taking pictures of the beautiful nature that surrounds me during those hikes. This is something to think about. Thank you for sharing this! It’s amazing the positive feeling a really good picture can bring out in a person. Thanks for hosting #ablogginggoodtime

  5. My camera came in a case, but it’s so big and bulky!! I’d love to find something better!!

  6. I really need a nice camera. At the moment I just use my phone and the photos are taking up all the memory! #ablogginggoodtime

  7. If I had a professional style camera I would probably get a case to support it as I would want to protect my investment. At the moment I just use my phone camera due to cost.

  9. All my pics are with my phone – taking my camera out, is something I never think to do – but I so should. It’s another blogging goal for the list #ablogginggoodtime

I have a soft case for my camera and a hard shell for my laptop. I will go and have a look at Case Farm now though as it sounds really good. Thanks for the tip! #ablogginggoodtime

  12. I was also obviously a very good girl this Christmas as Santa brought me my very own Nikon camera which I love! Makes such a difference to the quality of my pics. Still using the good old trusty phone though as it’s easy to pop in my back pocket but I really notice how much better the photos come out from my camera. Love that you are getting the little one out and about everyday. So important. #ablogginggoodtime

  13. I would LOVE a proper camera but I wouldn’t have a clue where to start with one. Maybe if I’m really really good for the rest of the year Santa will get me one too ?

I am surgically attached to my cameras! I have two…a small compact and a large DSLR with a number of lenses. Where do I keep them? In a make up bag!! I definitely need something with more protection! #ablogginggoodtime

  15. I do the best I can with my iPhone and some editing software. I’m an iphoneotographer. My Mrs., no she can take a picture! Beautiful! She too loves her camera. She uses a larger, soft protective bag that she ordered on Amazon. Lovely photos! #ablogginggoodtime

I’m ashamed to say I still use my phone for pictures…and you can tell!! #ablogginggoodtime
