As busy parents, when it gets to a certain time of the day we’re literally counting down until we can head upstairs and pretty much collapse onto the bed. Whether you have a new baby and you’re up for night feeds, or your little one is a regular visitor in the middle of the night, we often loose the idea that our bedrooms are our place. They often become, a place for feeds, for comforting, for first aid and even entertainment if your little on is partial to jumping on the bed to wake you up! The bedroom can sometimes become a place where we just recharge our batteries and little else.
But did you know, it doesn’t have to be this way? Now is the time to take back your bedroom and make it the relaxing, cosy paradise that you deserve after a long day chasing after the kids. Who knows? It might make night feeds a little more bearable!
Your flooring
Has the carpet in your bedroom seen better days? Is it bobbly, tired and stained with baby milk, contact lens solutions and spilled cups of tea? Now is the time to rethink your flooring options, imagine swinging your legs out of bed in the morning and your feet landing gently on a gorgeously thick, pile carpet…or if you’re looking for something a little stylish, then try some new laminate or hardwood flooring. If you’re looking for a little flooring inspiration then check out this website.
If changing your flooring is a little out of your budget or you can’t bare the thought of upsetting the family routine by having the disruption of a whole room being emptied and re-carpeted, then why not restyle your room with a beautiful new rug?
Update your bedding
How old is that duvet you’ve been sleeping on? And when was the last time you changed your pillows? Updating your bedding will instantly give your room a lift, especially if you team it with crisp white bed linen. What could be better than swapping those lumpy old pillows and smelly old duvet for something bouncy and fresh?
Don’t forget to introduce some chunky throws and/or pretty scatter cushions to really make you bed look cosy and welcoming!
Paint
Never underestimate the power of a paintbrush! Time to get rid of that tired old wallpaper and try a lovely new fresh look. Even if you just focus on one wall and create a feature wall in a fresh new colour – try cool blues and pale tones to help you relax.
Keep it airy
Get rid of those mismatched or old pine bedside tables and opt for some wall sconces instead? If you need somewhere to put your phone/baby bottle warmer, then why not try something different? A beautiful chair you have painted and upcycled or an old trunk?
Bring in nature
Try to introduce some plants or greenery into your bedroom. This will give it a fresh feel. If a vase of flowers is likely to get knocked over, then try a potted plant!
