Benefits of Being Your Own Boss with Mumpreneurs

For years and years I have been a slave to many different bosses and the awful 9-5 schedule trudging to work with a coffee in my hand and desperately trying to get out the door by 5pm but more than likely not managing it until closer to 6pm.

That was until recently…. And suddenly I have found myself FREE! Why is this you may ask? Well, that would be because I have gone freelance. That’s right I am now a WAHM doing freelance blogging, writing, PR and social media management. To be honest I never thought I would manage it – it has taken a huge leap of faith to be able to take the plunge into technical unemployment/self employment but I did it! Whilst it was scary, there are certainly some benefits!!

  • Imagine it… 9 am time to begin work and where am I? Sat at the dining room table in my unicorn pyjamas beginning my work for the day. This is a huge bonus of being my own boss – I can set my own dress code!

  • Of course, I said 9am but actually it doesn’t have to be. Sometimes I work at 6am, sometimes 2pm and some days I choose to play with my daughter all day. How can I do this? Because I am my own boss and I can set my own working hours. Granted sometimes this has to be around the people I am doing work for, but when working for myself and my blog… that’s my choice!

  • My baby girl was the reason I decided to become my own boss and work from home – so on days when she is feeling unwell and in the future when I have no doubt she will have copious amounts of school events and things for me to go to, it will be so wonderful to know that I will be able to attend them all no problem – and hey I’ll never have to work Christmas Day either!!

There are a million more bonuses I could mention – including permanent access to the fridge and of course making something that is completely your own and reaping all the benefits (as well as all the bills too lol)

My advice to you – if you can do it… DO IT! It may work it may not. It’s better to try and know what could happen than to always wonder. Who knows… it could be the best decision you ever make!
