We’re in the midst of festival season and our home has exploded with camping gear as the peak #GetOutside season is in full flow. Now that Alyssa is a bit older it is definitely time to be a bit more adventurous when it comes to getting outside and enjoying what the world has to offer. We live in rural Dorset and I really don’t think we take advantage of that and so it’s time for a change. Millets got in touch and asked if we would be interested in joining in with their #WildNightOut campaign on the 29th June and have a family camp out! Now, due to commitments we couldn’t go too far but there was nothing stopping us having a camp out in our own back garden was there?!

Wild Night Out is a dedicated date in the diary for us all to get outside. From family camp outs and mini garden festivals, to night-time nature walks and superb stargazing sessions, here’s your chance to do something fun and adventurous with family and friends outdoors.

On Saturday 29th June 2019, people across the UK will be enjoying fun adventures outdoors, both big and small. And we’d love you to join us! It’s time to forget the stresses of work or school, escape the pressures of technology and reconnect with the natural world around us.

Millets invited us to join in by having our very own camp out and sent us a bunch of their camping essentials to make sure we were set for the occasion! We decided that we would have a little camp out on the green opposite us. Millets kindly sent us an amazing 4 man pop up tent, double and single sleeping bags, camping chairs and a little light. I also decided to get one of those portable little BBQs so that we could toast marshmallows.

After the Camp Out

We had the most amazing time! We got very snuggled up in our sleeping bags inside the surprisingly spacious tent. What was nice was that apart from my camera we took no technology with us. We played I-spy, watched the stars and told stories. We laughed and joked and of course toasted marshmallows. I never would have thought it but we both had the most amazing time and are now totally excited for when we get to go camping again now that we have all of the gear!

We’re determined to spend the rest of 2019 getting out and about. How about you?
