Savings Galore for Mummy & Baby!

I've said it a million times before on this blog I'm sure, but when you are buying for a baby it can be really expensive. When I knew I was going to be a single mum I had a complete and utter panic meltdown that I wouldn't be able to afford everything she would need and that my poor little baby would always be left wanting... not a chance! I was/am very lucky that the Ex-Dad is very good at paying for his daughter and also took me shopping when I was pregnant to buy everything we needed for our little girl.

However, just because between us we had money to spend, does not mean that we went nuts - far from it! We got the essentials and a few non-essentials (that were a pure indulgence for me) and friends and family were very generous. However, we still went shopping for a bargain. We went and bought all our essentials on a half-price sale day and what would have cost £900 on a normal day cos just over £400 and that included the cot, moses basket and more. I also managed to get her a changing table on Ebay for £30 and the only thing wrong was it had a small scratch. Brand new this particular one was meant to be £350!! So you don't have to spend the earth.
A huge habit I got into whilst and pregnant and majorly post pregnancy is using vouchers and coupons. I mentioned in my post, "Americanisms: Extreme Couponing UK" that whilst we cannot hope to achieve the levels of couponing that the Americans do, there are plenty we can use in the UK to help us save a pound or two here and there.

My downfall when it comes to shopping is Online shopping - I refuse to save my card details on any site because otherwise it is just way to easy for me to click click and ooppss that something else that's on it's way to me and then by day 3 of the month I'm like... hmmm why do I have no money?!
Now, when I do infact need to order something online now, before I click pay, I always pop over to Google (love DR. Google just FYI) and see if the store I am buying from happens to have any active discount codes going on... I did this once and got £90 worth of Body Shop products for £20 as I managed to combine 2 codes... genius! However, there is another little website I have stumbled upon if you are looking for mummy and baby specific coupons and that is Babies Lounge.

Whilst American based, you can actually use the codes and have stuff shipped over - or sent to friends in America like I do... especially when certain products aren't available in the UK.This lovely website is infact a Mother and Parenting Blog but also has a dedicated page for coupons and money off some absolutely gorgeous items - such as baby slings, pregnancy pillows, care seat covers and more! So, why not head on over to Babies Lounge and grab yourself a discount - you won't regret it!
