Rainy Days No More: November Rain Poncho Review

Okay now let’s not lie… I have quite a large chest. I hate it. I’d like to be a good few sizes smaller and as I lose weight (9lbs last week!!!) my chest will go down but for now I am stuck with it (I know why the hell am I talking about my chest but bare with me here!) One of the downsides of being a bit top heavy means that I find it hard to find coats that fit well – they’ll be tight across the bust and loose everywhere else or just look like a circus tent and do nothing for the figure I actually have. I hate waterproofs as well as I usually end up look like a very wet Mrs.Blobby and let’s be honest, no one wants to look like that. So, when November Rain got in touch and asked me if I’d like to review their “One Size Fits All” Rain Poncho that comes in a handy carry pouch to be honest I was a bit dubious. I am not a one size fits all kind of girl I’m a sew four of them together (2 for each boob)and I will probably just about squeeze in! However, I thought I might as well give it a go and actually, I wasn’t disappointed….

Firstly, I was extremely impressed with how quickly my poncho arrived as I had thought it was coming from America but November Rain are now stocked on Amazon UK meaning that if you have Prime you can get it the very next day, which I infact did. So, there were three designs I could choose from; a Peacock blue colour, a Tribal pattern or the gorgeous Oriental Bird design that I did in fact choose.

Popping it out of it’s Amazon wrapping (okay ripping apart the box because it’s exciting getting parcels – i’m THAT saddo yes) it appeared in it’s lovely little carry pouch which to be honest I was really impressed with how small it was because instantly I knew I would have room in my overflowing baby bag for it. It did make me dubious however, that anything that would fit into a bag that small was unlikely to fit me… following the instructions, I removed it from it’s pouch and hung it up to let the creases drop (you can also iron them too!!) this is only necessary for the first use as obviously it won’t be stuffed away for nearly as long in the future – all I had to do then was wait for a rainy day moment.

An hour later, I kid you not, it began raining because of course this is England! So, with some trepidation I picked it up to try on. So, as you can imagine it is a poncho, so a big round circle of material. A couple of stitches have been added either side to make arm slits and there is a zip up the middle so you don’t have to pull it on and mess with the mum bun (thank god!!) There is also a hood which is detachable which was handy too. I slipped it on and low and behold, cue the fanfare, light the fires, it only went and bloody fit me! I am officially a ‘one size fits all” girl without any home stitching! It had plenty of room and there were poppers at the top and bottom of the zip too so that it then becomes a hidden zip. I have to say I am really pleased with it and you can feel the quality – definitely think it is worth the money and should become the new mum essential for our changing bags because let’s face it, the kids are usually in the pram, snuggly dry under the rain cover whilst we are pushing, getting wet because we are unable to hold a sodding umbrella and push at the same time. Genius product! Not only that November Rain cares so much about water in general that some of their profits go to providing water in developing countries.
