Men and Womens Outdoor Wear with Blacks & Millets Review

I live out in the countryside. It may not seem like it from pictures but I do. I have to say that despite once having worked as part of an agricultural team AND having lived in Dorset my entire life, my extent of outdoor limit goes to owning a pair of wellies and that’s about it…or it did. Then I had a child and THEN I got a camera and discovered I liked getting outdoors and stomping about the countryside on adventures with Alyssa and my partner and camera taking pictures and making memories. So, when Blacks and Millets asked if we’d like to try some of their great winter wear, how could we possibly say no!

Intended for use in wintry conditions where comfort and thermal proofing are a requirement, The North Face Glacier quarter-zip, pull-on mens fleece is  constructed from high quality fleecing improving breathability and thermal performance without adding weight. Featuring a quarter zip pull-over design for regulating body temp this mid layer piece can be worn on its own or under more insulating fabrics for extreme cold weather protection. It was super soft, fitted but not skin tight and was great as a light jacket before the weather turned really cold but thin enough to go underneath a coat once the weather had turned. We also really liked the Men’s Berghaus Fleece which whilst different in style was just as good!
Next up we had a women’s fleece that was simple and affordable for everyday adventuring out and about with a very active pre-schooler. The much-loved Hartsop is a cosy full-zip fleece which can be worn alone or under an outer shell when the conditions change. It gives great warmth without weight or bulk and is a practical mid-layer for being out and about and on the move. I really loved the women’s North Face Fleece too – looked super cosy!
Something for me was the gorgeous Berghaus Calisto Alpha jacket from the women’s winter jackets which at first looks like a really light weight waterproof jacket that will keep you dry but perhaps leave you cold. THEN you see that it has a fleece lining underneath, which can also be separated from the waterproof outer layer so it can be washed – which is great for muddy, sweaty walks. There are so many great women’s winter jackets you won’t have trouble finding one to suit you!
Of course that meant that he needed a waterproof men’s jacket as well and for that there was the North Face Men’s Resolve Waterproof jacket which is exactly the same. It looks sleek and professional, so I’m told, but is great for keeping the wearer warm and providing movability. An adjustable, stow-away hood and stormflap provide extra protection from the elements while adjustment points allow you to create a tailored fit. You can see all sorts of waterproof jackets for men by checking out their website. Again, I particularly liked the Men’s Berghaus Waterproof Jacket and so did he!
Overall, I’d defintely recommend looking at Blacks and Millets for all your outdoor wear from jackets to fleeces to boots and more. They have great options for both men and women that look great as well as feel great. Whether you’re a rural countryside dweller like me or enjoy escaping to the Cotswolds or the Highlands, shop at Blacks and Millets for all your needs.
