Magic Sleepsuit: Our Review & Giveaway!

Baby wearing magic sleepsuit lemon colour

How on earth do I get my baby to stay asleep…without me?!

This is something I asked myself time and time again in the first few days…weeks…months (okay okay sometimes I STILL ask this) however, at the beginning you’re encouraged to try several different methods to get your little bubbas to go peacefully to sleep. I had some serious issues at the beginning getting Alyssa to sleep anywhere but on me… it was one thing after another as she was in SCBU then she has a virus and then a bad reaction to her first injections and in the end I gave in and sat up letting her sleep on my chest with my darling mum giving me a sleep break at some point each night.
Young alyssa sleeping on mummys chestIt was hard going for a long long time (little did I know that I would feel more tired now almost a year on than I did back then… such a rookie) in the end it was a combination of swaddling (suggested by mum) and the purchase of a cocoon mattress which ultimately ended up being my saviour. Swaddling for us was a huge part of Alyssa eventually sleeping by herself and I carried it on much longer than most and so when it was time to stop swaddling because she was moving to a cot where it wouldn’t really be safe to swaddle her (and in all honestly she was getting to big for it really) I panicked… for quite a while. She has always been swaddled really and I had come to rely on it.

Mummy lying with baby stroking her faceI am not going to lie… those first few nights… weeks in the cot were not plain sailing and even now she still has the odd moment when no where but mummy’s arms will do for sleep (you should see my muscles now!) So, you’re probably wondering why on earth I am going on about the sleep troubles I have had with Alyssa (if you’re soon to be parents I apologise if I have just scared the be-jesus out of you) well, bare with because as always there is a method to my madness.

As I said, swaddling was always our thing – it worked and I’d completely recommend it… to a certain point. But going from swaddle to no swaddle was horrendous, there was no transition for us at all…. NEVER FEAR because I bring you the amazing transition known as ‘THE MAGIC SLEEPSUIT’

Magic sleepsuits in yellow blue and pink with logo and website on

Oh, how I wish I had known about these 6 months ago – seriously would have saved me A LOT of tears… from Alyssa too. You’re probably thinking, “Okay so why is it so magic?!” Let me explain…

THE MAGIC SLEEPSUIT is an innovative swaddle transition product that provides babies with a cozy, calming, and safe sleep environment.

  • The patented Magic Sleepsuit is designed for babies who are ready to transition from the swaddle, yet still need that cozy and contained feeling to aid in their sleep.
  • Designed for Back Sleeping in the crib as recommended by the AAP

Maureen, the creator of the Magic Sleep Suit,  shared her “ah-ha!” moment in the Huffington Post:
“Like most new Moms, I was wishing for a magic wand, something I could simply wave over my young son Will’s head that would help him sleep for longer than thirty minutes. Night time wasn’t a problem for us but at about three or four months, when he had grown out of his swaddle, we couldn’t get him to nap for very long in his crib. I remembeBaby lying in cot wearing pink magic sleepsuitr sitting in my family room, listening to the baby monitor, being so frustrated. I could look at the clock and tell you exactly when he’d wake up.
Yet if I took him for a walk in the jogging stroller or for a ride in the car, he’d sleep straightthrough. It got to the point, where I’d just leave him in the stroller, in the living room, because I knew he’d get a good nap. The situation would have been frustrating for any parent, but for me being a pediatric physical therapist, it became a puzzle I desperately wanted to figure out. I wanted to know what it was about that stroller that helped Will sleep. What I never imagined was that the solution I was searching for would have an impact far beyond my own family.
I love the idea that something I did is making a difference in so many lives. I loved doing that as a pediatric physical therapist and now I can do it in a much bigger way. My kids will always be my priority. I don’t want to miss any of their growing up. But who better than a mom to figure out how to manage a business and a family? We’re always multi-tasking. We’re the CEOs of our households. And what a great way to show your kids what’s possible.”
Since its inception, the Magic Sleep Suit has helped countless mothers transition their babiesfrom the swaddle, and has given countless babies an easy sleeping experience.”

3 magic sleepsuits blue yellow and pink

The wonderful people at THE MAGIC SLEEPSUIT sent me one of their gorgeous suits to try – it  was so soft and felt gorgeously luxurious and padded. It was easy to slip onto Alyssa as the front panel compleMagic sleepsuit close up of pink blue and yellow frontstely unzips. I was concerned that being in warmer weather and being so seemingly padded, this suit would cause her to over-heat! This wasn’t the case… because her feet, hands and head are exposed this helps to keep their body temperature at an optimum level… provided you follow the guidelines of what to wear underneath. We’ve not been having the best of summers so it was easy enough to give this a try. Now despite the fact that Alyssa no longer needs to be swaddled she does still like to have a cuddle in the evenings and is sometimes reluctant to go down as I mentioned so this lovely sleepsuit gave her the extra cuddle feel that she needed and she slept really well, didn’t overheat and only woke once the entire night which when happy and content is how she generally sleeps. Now, the sleepsuit is only for babies who are back sleeping and once they can roll over you should transition them out of the suits. Alyssa has always been a back sleeper which has been incredibly handy so I felt happy putting her in it for the night. From what I could see, this would have been absolutely perfect when we had been switching from swaddle to cot and I only wish I had known about them sooner! They also come in three different colours; yellow, blue or pink. They come in sizes 3-6 or 6-9 months and are available in the lighter cotton or the warmer fleece so can be used all year round… PERFECT! I can honestly say that I heartily recommend this product and if I have any more little bubbas I know what is going to the top of my wish list!!
