About me

I'm Katie and welcome to my little corner in the Blogosphere!

I am a thirty-something (crikey!!) single mummy to my gorgeous daughter Alyssa, who was born in July 2015 (5 weeks early I might add!)

I live with Alyssa, my mum and her partner in Dorset, in the lovely south of England - a little unconventional I know but it works for us!

I trained in Performing Arts and once appeared on the West End but went on to train as an English Drama & Dance teacher which saw me living in Sicily for three years!

Back in 2014, I broke up with my ex-partner, found out I was pregnant and found out I was being made redundant all in the space of a week. It was hard, I am not going to lie but I made it work. Then, when Alyssa was born, the thought of going back to a job I didn't love filled me with total sadness - I'd be leaving my treasured little girl for someone else to look after and watch grow all for something I hated doing.

That is when Mummy in a Tutu was born. I spent a month writing, whilst my darling sister and her friend built my original site and then I jumped in head first. I had 6 months to get my idea to work and if not I'd be returning to work. Four months later, with the support of my family, I handed in my resignation and have been working as a full-time blogger and social media manager ever since. Not only that, I have finally found something I love doing - my goodness it can take you to the brink but I wouldn't change it for the world and I get to watch my baby grow!

Although I don't have much free time, when I do, I enjoy drinking coffee and chatting with friends, reading, watching good films, cooking and obviously making my little girl laugh. What do I dislike? Nuts and fruit IN food. Like them on their own but IN something like curry? No no no!! Why do I blog? It started out as a way to earn money from home. Simple as that. However it turned into so much more. After all that had happened, I had stuck myself in a box, shut off from the world and everyone but my family. Blogging has not only given me a job I love but it has given me friendships I never thought I'd have again and an outlet that is beyond anything else. Also, being able to talk to the people who read my blog and letting them know that they are not alone is amazing and makes life less lonely for me too.

Whilst here you can expect posts about Life, Parenting, Food (with a vegetarian twist) Reviews and so so much more! With you, I am sharing what's inside - and not holding back!

This blog is personal and heartfelt, from me to you and I hope you enjoy.

xoxo
