Watch Out for My Watch – Review & Giveaway

jord watch in a box
Everyday when I used to get up for school, once I was dressed I’d do my hair, pop on my watch  (the ONLY piece of jewellery we were allowed to wear at my all girls grammar!!!) and head out the door to school. Since leaving school I’ve never made the effort to go out and find myself a new “grown-up” watch as opposed to the Take That one I wore to school (yeah I was THAT girl) so when the lovely people at Jord Wood Watches asked if they could send me one of theirs, how could I refuse….

So, Jord are an American company that design, yes you read that right before, wooden watches!! I did a double take when I first read that… I mean a wooden watch?! But it’s true… the mechanisms are normal metal on the face but the strap/links are all wooden in varying shades and colours. They sent me a few options and I was able to pick this gorgeous Purple Heart & Mother of Pearl watch and I absolutely love it – it is just so me… I mean it’s all sparkly and pinky red!!

So, there was a knock at the door and there stood the lovely courier with quite a large box… it was at this point I was slightly concerned I’d ordered a watch for a giant, but nevertheless signed for it and took it inside. Again, it was quite heavy, so slightly concerned I was going to be walking around lopsidedly… but then I opened it up and inside was the most gorgeous wooden box and cushioned inside was my lovely watch.

The gorgeous wooden box contained my watch on a lovely little cushion, as well as a cloth to clean the watch, a social media sharing card and a little booklet telling you how to care for your watch. It is so important to do this – for example you need to rub oil into the watch to help preserve the wood and keep the watch nice. The little box also has a hidden drawer underneath so you can keep any of the bits and pieces that come with the watch in there. The wooden box itself has a magnetic lid which I like as it helps secure the box in case you happened to knock it over.
All in all, I can’t tell you enough how happy I am with my gorgeous watch. It took about 2 weeks to arrive from the US which in the grand scheme of things is not very long at all and I think for all the craftsman ship and care that have gone into these, including the way they arrive and are presented, I think they are definitely worth the price tag on them… and at the end of the day it’s better to pay more for a decent watch that will last than keep shelling out on cheap watches that you have to replace again and again! I can honestly say I am very proud to be wearing my watch and am taking great care of it, however, if anyone comes near it I do keep saying… ~”Watch out for my Watch!!”
