Welcome to #FOODIEFRIDAY Week 25
9th February 2017
Now, just because I do not have a Valentine does not mean I do not get involved in the spirit of the holiday. I do think it is over done a bit now as we really shouldn’t need a special day to show someone that we love them, we should do this all the time. However, I am all about sharing the love and buying the people who I love the most a gift to show I care. I also have my sister’s 30th birthday coming up meaning of course that I need to spoil her rotten. Then, you know not to drop any hints or anything, but my birthday is 2nd of March and I thought I might be able to help people out with a few ideas (anything pink or a unicorn is a winner for me just FYI!!) However, I have become bored lately with what is in the shops as it is all just the same thing time and time again. The a company called Uncommon Goods got in touch and asked me if I’d like to take a look at their site  which do great but different gifts to give for all occasions…

“At UncommonGoods, we’re working to change the way business is done by making sustainability a part of every decision we make. We’re steadily working to make UncommonGoods more environmentally friendly, socially responsible and an ever-more rewarding place to work.”

I’m all about helping the environment where I can and if I can do that and buy beautiful gifts for my family and friends then for me it is a win win situation! So, I went virtual shopping which is just about my favourite kind…

So first of all I had a look through and decided that I’d quite like a personalised gift with a name on or something and came across this awesome rolling pin. Those of you that follow me on Instagram will be well aware of how much my little one adores kitchen. She has her own kitchen and yet she still “borrows” my utensils and we do love to cook and bake together as well! As she is my very own forever Valentine, I think something like this would be perfect for her – we could also use it on her playdough too!

We also have Mother’s Day coming up too don’t we, so I needed to find a gift for a woman or a mum or something that was hugely sentimental for my lovely mum. To be honest I could have picked one of a million things but I really loved this gorgeous necklace that says “You are always loved” along the spiral and it’s exactly how I feel about my wonderful mum who has done so much for both Alyssa and I.

Finally, of course I needed to find something for my sister to celebrate her 30th birthday. There were so many birthday gifts to choose from  but I was really entranced by these gorgeous Wishing Balls. They are blown glass and somewhere to keep any wishes, dreams or thoughts of gratitude you have. I think this is such a wonderful idea and will make a really unique gift for her on a momentous birthday.

Overall, I was really impressed by the products that were available at Uncommon Goods. I did think the prices were quite high to start with but when I stopped and thought about the craftsmanship, the quality and the environmental factors I actually think it’s all well worth the money and definitely somewhere I will be shopping in the future.
This is a collaborative post – all thoughts are my own.
