I’m A Blogging Success Because… Week #18

Success comes in all shapes and sizes doesn’t it? It can be an award you’ve waited your whole life to get. It could be recognition for something or from someone that matters. Or it could be something as small as your child saying I love you. We don’t celebrate success, in whatever form enough in my opinion and over the past few weeks and months with the madness that is blogging awards and particularity in the past week with my fight to get blogging seen as a real job, I have come to realise that everyone is a success in their own right. So, we find ourselves here and with me opening up the doors to Mummy in a Tutu for the first time to a guest post series. This series is here for any and all bloggers to talk about success; their success or the success of someone else that they want to recognise. Welcome to I’m a blogging success because… Let’s hand over to Kris from Max and Kai Blog!

Successful is never really a word I have ever used to describe myself and especially not my blog. This is something I’m working hard to try and turn around. Slowly but surely its all coming together.

Before becoming a mummy I worked the 9-5 in an office. I would never have said I had a successful caeerer, I did my job for a long time (8 years in fact) and I could perform all of my duties with my eyes closed.

Making the decision to not return to my job was one of the easiest decisions I have ever had to make.

Now I have the best job and the hardest. One that I absolutely feel I have excelled at, I’m a stay at home mummy to my 2 boys Max and Kai.

Without the boys there would be no blog, anything I may have achieved in life and in the blog has come because of them.

I often wonder how we should measure success in the blogging community. Are you successful if you have high numbers of followers or page views? Are you a success if you are approached by PR companies and brands eager to collaborate and work with you?

Success is something that is different to everyone. My successes in life are raising my children. The big one has hit terrible twos and often he is a nightmare but on the other hand, he is so intelligent. Max has just turned 2 and can count to 10.

Max has just turned 2 and can count to 10 (with a little encouragement) he is learning new skills every day and I really couldn’t be prouder. This is a success to me, seeing my children exceeding in life and translating this into words for my blog. Having other readers want to read my posts and often engaging and returning to read others.

Having other readers want to read my posts and often engaging and returning to read others.

I used to play the compare game ut now I realise there is no need to compare, we are all a success in our own rights!

  1. I think this is extremely true in every venue in life. What one person constitutes as a success, another will bemoan!

This is very inspiring, some of us measure success by their careers only (unfortunately) however I agree with Kris that you can be successful as a mum and your babies can be your biggest achievement. #ablogginggoodtime

  3. I think part of the key to success is not comparing yourself to others, like you say – accept your journey for what it is and do the best that you can for you. It’s easy to get bogged down in page views and follower numbers, but that takes all the joy out of it. #ablogginggoodtime

  4. Ahhh love this. Success is raising our children to be happy. We should always be careful to ensure that we don’t get bogged down by the numbers! #Ablogginggoodtime

  6. Love this, inspiring, I hate my job but love blogging and would love to see it grow X #ablogginggoodtime

  7. This is a great post and so true. I think as soon as you stop comparing yourself to others, you can properly acknowledge your own successes and accomplishments. #ablogginggoodtime

  8. Quitting to be a SAHM was one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever made too, and for someone who is terribly indecisive I knew it was the right thing to do.

Aww this is lovely – seeing the influence we have on our children has certainly got to be seen as a success. They constantly learn from us and we should be proud about that 🙂 #ablogginggoodtime

  17. Very true and the worst thing you can do is compare as we are all on our own journey X #ablogginggoodtime

  18. Like you, there would be no blog without my 4 kids. I don’t consider myself a blogging success yet, still so much to learn :), but this is only based on my own goals, not on comparing myself to others.

  24. Great post! Success is much more than numbers. One of my favourite quotes is “Success is liking who you are, liking what you do and liking how you do it.” #ablogginggoodtime
