How to Host The Ultimate Kids Party… On a Budget!
11th August 2017
Okay we all know I don’t like me weight or the way I look. I’ve mentioned it enough times. I also know for a fact that I am the only one who can do something about it and that I need to wait for my head to be in the right place before I even attempt it again or within twenty four hours I will feel like a failure once again. I am actually getting there – I just need a little bit more sleep and energy and I think I’ll be ready to dive bomb fully back into it because I actually really want to have a bash at the “Couch  to 5k” because just before I became pregnant I was actually at my healthiest ever and was even running which I’d sworn my whole life I’d never do!! Now, I have tried pretty much every diet or type of diet under the sun from cutting things out completely, practically starving myself, weighing, measuring etc etc but being an emotional eater I always fall back on food as my crux. However, something I haven’t tried before is a meal delivery system and if I’m honest the only reason for this is because I have simply never been able to afford it. So, when Jane Plan got in touch and asked me if I’d like to trial their meal plan system, I practically bit their hand off – you know, because I was so hungry….

Some of you may not have heard of Jane Plan or like me you may know full well who they are and have seen their adverts. So, how does it work? Well, like me you’ll decide you have had enough being a fatty (yup I went sailing past curvy a while back though FYI I’d never ever call anyone else that) and want to lose weight. So what happens is you go on and choose meals from their amazing list of options, they deliver them and all you have to do is stick to what they’ve given you. You get your own little diary to record things as you go and a huge bonus and surprise for me was that you also get contact with a nutritionist with whom you speak weekly to for guidance, tips and help.

“Jane Plan takes away the worry of what to eat, when to eat and how much to eat  so you can become the person you want to be – leaner, lighter with a healthier attitude to food. Variety, flavour and goodness are at the heart of our dishes. I want you to enjoy what you are eating and learn from the food we give you what to put on your plate for the rest of your life.  Jane Plan is all about moderation, balance and feeling and looking fantastic.”

This seemed like an absolute dream set-up if I’m honest because a huge stumbling block I face when dieting is finding the extra time I need to put into making healthy meals for myself – though ridiculously always make sure I give enough time to Alyssa’s healthy balanced meals. So, I logged on and chose a Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snack for 14 days. Firstly I should say I was really pleased by the amount of choice there was for vegetarians who are often neglected so right off I really appreciated that.

The food arrived via a very nice delivery person and I just had to pop it all away and get ready to begin. On my first morning I hopped on the scales and made a note of my weight (which if you’re wondering was XJNSOJB#$CFDA – that’s the noise the scales made) and began. Now, with the breakfasts like the granola and porridge it suggests adding a handful of berries which is the only prep you need to do and if all I have to do is wash a handful of berries then I am good. I was a little surprised at what a standard breakfast size should be which only served to highlight to me how wrong I am when it comes to my portion sizes.

I had quite a few different lunches throughout my two weeks – and I think the pastas were my favourite. I honestly was not overly keen on the soups as they really didn’t hold much flavour for me and obviously there was no

seasoning. Everything else though I really enjoyed and with all the meals the portions were more than enough. With the evening meal, you’re told to add a portion of vegetables or salad and I think with some of the meals you wouldn’t even have needed that. I loved the Lentil Cottage Pie, the Mushroom Stroganoff but my absolute favourite was the Curry which was just bursting with flavour. I also managed to get in my sugar fix with the snacks which at one point even involved a little chocolate and popcorn – woohoo!!

Talking to the nutritionist was also fantastic as it kind of helps keep you on track and also makes you feel like you’re not doing it all on your own. You can also discuss how you feel you’re doing and any problems you have had and add in the little Jane Plan Diary you keep and I think it is actually a really great system.

Now, I was honest. I didn’t cheat. I ate exactly what I was given (despite Alyssa’s leftovers frequently calling out to me) and did as much exercise as I ever do. I know you’re  all dying to know if or how much I lost. Well….

-7lbs!!

All in all I can tell you that Jane Plan obviously DOES work and works well. Over two weeks, which in fact flew by, I lost half a stone with no effort on my part whatsoever. This has honestly been the easiest and least stressful diet I have tried in a long time. All I had to do was whack a pouch on a hob or in the microwave and minutes later everything was done which at the end of the day is all I really need as I’m usually working and knackered. I would thoroughly recommend Jane plan and actually as you can get it for as little as £6.21 a day I think it’s actually not too badly priced either.
If you’d like to ask me any questions about the diet then feel free and I am happy to share and if you’re on or starting your own weight loss journey I wish you all the luck in the world and have a little something below that might help.
